FreePower Group held the final session of its internal cycle of four talks, focused on the current challenges facing solar energy and the strategic role of energy storage within the Chilean power system. The presentation was delivered by Darío Morales, a professional with more than 20 years of experience in the sector and current Executive Director of the Chilean Solar Energy Association, ACESOL.

During the session, Morales addressed the current landscape of the electricity market, characterized by high penetration of renewable energy, constraints in transmission infrastructure, and a growing oversupply of solar generation. In this context, he emphasized the need to move from a scarcity-driven approach toward the efficient management of energy abundance, placing the end user at the center of the energy transition.

One of the key topics of the talk was energy storage as a critical solution to address challenges related to pricing, supply reliability, and renewable energy curtailment. Morales highlighted that storage systems provide greater flexibility to the power system, enable the use of excess generation, and support the accelerated deployment of renewable energy projects.

For FreePower Group, this final session marked the conclusion of its internal talk series, which previously covered topics such as “Communication Skills,” “Trends and Challenges of Hydrogen in Chile,” and “Innovation and Digitalization in the Energy Sector.” Together, these sessions reinforced a strategic perspective on renewable energy, innovation in project development, and the advancement of a sustainable and efficient energy transition.
