On May 9th, FreePower Group participated in the «State of the Hydrogen Industry in Magallanes» panel, with CEO Juan Guillermo Walker representing the company. The event, organized by the Chilean-Australian Chamber of Commerce (Auscham), was part of the Punta Arenas 2024 Mission and aimed to explore the opportunities available to the region in the hydrogen sector.
The discussion panel included Juan Guillermo Walker, CEO of FreePower Group; Juan José Gana from HIF Global; Loreto Rivera from RWE; Francisco Peralta from EDF; and Cristian Veliz-Varas, president of the AUSCHAM Energy Committee, who moderated the debate.
Throughout the session, industry experts shared their insights and perspectives to enrich the local and international dialogue on the current state and future prospects of H2V in Magallanes. To kick off the discussion, Kenneth Maclean from Lagos Maclean Abogados provided a mapping of ongoing projects in the region, followed by a visionary framework on the region’s needs, presented by Vanessa Farrugia from SKIC and Darío Barros from EIMSIA.
In his address, Juan Guillermo Walker stated: “Our Frontera project in Tierra del Fuego and Cabeza de Mar in Punta Arenas are fundamental pillars for regional development, paving the way toward a more sustainable energy future. It is crucial to gradually incorporate environmental baseline assessments, engage communities early, and ensure focused institutional integration in the strategy for the development of each initiative.”
